I got a job interview this week. The interviewer was the production manager and the assistant production manager. The assistant was a downer and all about schedule and salary which kind a bit of sickening, while the manager is all about skills and experiences and help me tour around the facility. The manager was easy to talk to and very understandable. However, the next day I got an email rejection letter from HR. It says that the job position has been filled, the decision only applies to this specific role and separate from your status on other opportunities to which you may have applied.

About to leave my job. Company keeps hiring low quality candidates for advanced positions while I’ve been stuck in my current role for 8 years, and have had only 1 chance to “apply” for advancement in that time. I kick ass at what I do, but just need something more challenging to master.

Really sad I didn't see this video before they asked me this question on Tuesday 😢. But then again the Sr. VP made fun of my name in front of an HR Manager and didn't even have my resume printed in front of him and used my interview to print my resume and talk about his wife which had nothing to do with me or the job!!

Ok - I like your videos, I like you, I could work with you 😂 - seriously these are really timely and great, although unless things are a lot better in the US than UK, the last “no” and the latest both say there are over 1,300 candidates - so odds are 0.077%. I should probably start the lottery. I’m hearing you loud and clear, will look at your other material on avoiding the job boards. 😉

So today, I just interviewed with an internal recruiter for a well-known company. The call was previously scheduled for 30 minutes and as soon we started she told me she had a hard stop, that she was also having a technical issue with Teams (she could see me but I couldn't see her). She only had time for a few questions and a quick information about the role. I got the feeling she didn't have my resume in front of her. She read the scripted questions and wrote down my answers. Then she explained next steps if I get chosen. This whole thing messed me up. I felt distracted, screwed and rushed I ended up only asking a couple of questions. All in all it was over at 15 minutes.

2 weeks ago I had a screening interview, over zoom, with the company's recruiter. It seemed to go well and she asked about my schedule and if it would be ok if it took a few days to get back to me on next steps. I sent a followup last week but never got a response, which is equal parts frustrating and surprising.

Thanks for sharing, the thing is since recruiters never call back or give any feedback you'll never know which of all the options you've mentioned was the reason why you didn't get hired. I want to ask you if they have a budget for the position why they prefer to play the "what is your desired salary or previous salary" game, which feels like they are setting you up to fail.

  • @PirateAndBum

You hinted at this regarding an internal candidate and at the end under political reasons. The hiring manager has already decided who they are going to hire, friend of a friend, belong to the same social group, had a great conversation at the pub. The interviews are a formality for HR.

I just have a fresh experience of not getting the job. At first, it looked very good, I got called in for a second job interview and they ended up welcoming me in the company and asked me to check my schedule to see what day I could start, they even used sentences like "you will be the first person in the role". When I sent the email with my schedule, the response was "let´s schedule a call". Right from that response, I knew something was off. The call then went like "Oops, we found out there´s this strong candidate in our company and we have to evaluate that person for the position as well... and it´s gonna take two weeks". Of course, they hired the other person and I went from "you will be the first one in this position" to "2 weeks wasted". Probably a good story of an example of why it´s important not to put all your eggs in one basket.

In my personal experience, from the moment I started using the tips that this man gives in his videos, I saw an improvement in the interviews and I started to get into more andvaced stages and feel more interest in me from the recruiters. He helps a lot in feeling more secure, know how to reply common questions and how to prepare for interviews. Really appreciate his labor.

They want someone "special" - oh yeah, that happens 😆I was there as a temp, was told no, don't apply, a lot (very qualified) were rejected, and at long last one person was hired, who didn't have the education he claimed, but his parents were friends of the head of department. Well, shit happens ... 🤭🤣🤣

I’ve never had the privilege of being in a stable job and being “allowed” a better one elsewhere while still working. I’ve worked for companies that tanked, then had to suffer months of unemployment, had nothing to show for any new qualifications, had no support beyond box-ticking “awareness” for long-term anxiety & depression that I’ve suffered manager ignorance or workplace bullying from staff in 4 different workplaces from exclusively women and had smarmy recruitment agency staff refuse to even put me forward for stuff after blowing their own trumpet over their years of being a “temporary consultant” while refusing to accept I’ve only got a bunch of temporary work on my CV for over a decade at this point because the employment market won’t “allow” any alternative. It’s tedious looking for work for a 3rd of my 30s, then over half my 40s so far at nearly 47 while the gatekeepers of ever moving on from the constant stress of it all persist in keeping it that way.
